Here’s a review based on your experience: Amazing Ikan Bakar Experience If you're a fan of fresh seafood, flavorful spices, and a unique dining experience, this place is a must-visit. The Ikan Bakar (grilled fish) is absolutely outstanding! The fish itself is bursting with flavor—perfectly sweet, spicy, and slightly salty, balancing beautifully when paired with bitter beans. It’s so flavorful that there’s no need for the provided dipping sauce, though the sauce is delicious too. Ordering here is an adventure. You’ll need to head to the fish display area, grab a basket and a pair of tongs, select your fish, and bring it to the counter where it’s weighed and priced. After telling the staff how you want it cooked and providing your table number, the chef works their magic on the grill. Be prepared for a bit of a wait—around 20 minutes—but the food is well worth it. The process might feel confusing at first, especially during busy times, but the friendly staff and helpful grill chef make it easier. We ended up ordering the Nata, which came highly recommended, and it was phenomenal. Overall, I recommend ordering 1 fish with a dish of rice for a satisfying meal. The water is free and self-served. Keep in mind that the restaurant can get crowded, but the amazing flavors and friendly service make it a place worth trying.

The quality of seafood is definitely fresh. No doubt about the quality. The cooking style is widely accepted as basically the standard stuff. It was the service that was a bit "weird." While they were courteous, they closed a certain outdoor section. The indoor sections were just smoky and stuffy. We couldn't see their logic. The other thing was, our group consisted of 15 persons. We ordered Kai Lan. The size that they prepared was like for 2 pax.

Instructions for ordering. Get a table, remember your table number, go and pick your seafood, tell the guy your preferred cooking method and table number. If unsure, let the guy recommend the cooking method. Return to your table, some waitresses will approach you and take order for vegetables, drinks and rice. The cashier lady speaks good English, she is vey approachable and warm hearted, if unsure, just check with her. And for us, we came here twice during our visit. First day we just ordered a grilled stingray. Second day we ordered fried octopus, salted egg prawns and Malay style steam fish. The stingray is sooooo big and many meat there, we were totally stuffed. Fried octopus is crispy and delicious, salted egg prawns is my first time trying, very unique taste, prawns are very big also! The Malay style steam fish is different from the Chinese style, they just use chopped garlic and pickled chillies, no ginger at all. It turns out to be delicious and tender too. We would definitely visit this place again if we visit Kuantan again in the future! Lastly, do not Malay cooking style is spicy, need to indicate less/no spicy (kurang/tidak pedas) when ordering.

Ana Ikan Bakar Petai is known for its famous grilled fish, served with a special sambal that gives a unique, spicy kick. The grilled fish is fresh, with a smoky flavor enhanced by the petai (stink beans) and sambal. Their seafood options are generally well-prepared, with dishes like calamari, prawns, and crabs being popular picks. It’s so busy during peak hours. Have to wait for table. Service can be a bit slow during busy times, especially weekends, so be prepared for a wait. Staff are friendly but can be stretched when the place is packed. Overall, Ana Ikan Bakar Petai is a good spot if you’re craving Malaysian-style grilled seafood with a twist. If you're a petai fan, it’s definitely a must-try!
